Job Description

Position Summary
The CT Technician is directly responsible for the through-put of patients and providing appropriate levels of patient care during the scanning process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Administer standard scanning procedures
  2. Maintain appropriate patient through-put levels
  3. Assist checking in patients as needed
  4. Make CD’s for physician’s offices
  5. Maintain dressing rooms and scan room
  6. Administers first-aid when required and assists physicians in care of acute emergencies
  7. Maintains supplies for the work area, informs Chief Technologist when items need re-ordering
  8. Responsible for keeping current on technical advances
  9. Start IV’s and administers contrast
  10. Perform daily Quality Assurance as required to maintain state of Maryland and ACR Regulations
  11. Performs other duties as assigned

High school graduation with courses in physics and chemistry is necessary. Graduation from an accredited x-ray, nuclear medicine, or ultrasound training program. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is necessary. Willingness to work flexible hours.
One to two years of experience as CT scanning is necessary.

Ability to do math calculations, input data into the computer, and analyze data as requested. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.  Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.  Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.

Supervision Received
General supervision is received from Department Manager; work is reviewed at least daily by physician concerned.
