Job Description

MFA is made up of more than 750 providers serving locations in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC while providing patient care for over 50 clinical specialty areas.  In addition to direct patient care, MFA is an academic medical group supporting the training of resident physicians and associated healthcare professionals in addition to participating in a variety of medical research programs.  

The Director is responsible for developing systems for maintaining coding data integrity and quality throughout the system and will service as an important leader in revenue cycle and compliance functions across the organization.  This position will work collaboratively with the CFO, Business Office, Patient Access, and Compliance departments as well as Clinical Administrators to create and support top performing revenue cycle outcomes for MFA. 

This position provides centralized managment and leadership for all Coding and Revenue Integrity as well as Medical Records funcitons for Medical Faculty Associates.  This position directs, manages, and implements programs to insure effective and efficient operations of the coding, charge capture, revenue integrity and medical record processing functions for the purpose of receiving proper reimbursement which support MFA operations and strategic initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

This position oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of professional fee and teaching physician coding policies.  In addition, this position provides oversight and leadership to those staff responsible for professional fee coding and charge capture, coding and documentation training and monitoring, as well as those responsible for medical record processing. 

Education: 

  • Bachelor required

 Experience         

  • Seven years supervisor or managerial experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with coding and/or revenue cycle functions.
  • Five years’ experience coding (ICD and CPT) professional physician services.
  • Medical professional coding certification is required by AHIMA or American Academy of Professional Coders.  (RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS or CCS-P)
