Job Description

This position responsible for processing all release of information (ROI) specifically medical record requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. Protect the patient’s right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient’s medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. This position releases medical records in a confidential and accurate manner following established policies and protocols with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations. Act as liaison between clinic, patient, providers, ancillary departments and third parties. Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information, including HIPPA, and HITECH guidelines. Other duties include, coordinating with other team members to obtain medical records from other providers.
Requirements
Administrative experience in an office setting; previous release of information, medical records, or other related experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Proven customer service experience and/or training. Ability to effectively use computer software and technology as required by the member facility including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to understand and become knowledgeable of Release of Information standards, policies & procedures and HIPAA regulations and to complete work in compliance of these and other standards. Ability to read and comprehend simple, healthcare terminology. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective organizational skills a must. Ability to use fax, copier, credit card machine, and multiline phone system and other required work tools. Ability to learn new equipment and required processes in a fast paced environment. Ability to work professionally, effectively, and efficiently in a team environment with customers, management and co-workers. Must be willing to travel to multiple sites based on the needs of the region. Must be able to multi-task effectively.

EducationHigh school graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience is necessary. Minimum Associates Degree, RHIT or other certification a plus, and 1-2 years previous experience preferred.

Experience3 years clerical / administrative work.
Minimum 3 years of customer service experience.
3 years in Healthcare field or Medical Records department required.
