Job Description

Transport, deliver and set up mobile mammography van in accordance with established policies, procedures and traffic regulations/safe driving practices, and to perform general support duties for the daily operations of the mobile mammography van.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Transports the Mobile Mammography Van to various destinations in accordance with established policies, procedures and traffic regulations/safe driving practices; parks the van in accordance with pre-determined parking specifications and sets up the van using proper procedures for fuel levels, levels with jacks and sets up for daily screening. This includes coordinating with specific site coordinator to ensure NO PARKING signs are put up at least 24 hours in advance
2.Inspects vehicle for proper functioning of lights, signals, brakes and tire inflation. Informs Supervisor and Technical Coordinator of any malfunction.
3.Performs any special instructions pertaining to a particular screening site when necessary. This includes but is not limited to working with security personnel at a given site for parking, general communication with personnel at a given site regarding parking problems.
4.Communicates daily with Technical Coordinator.
5.Maintains and submits to the Supervisor maintenance log reports.
6.Fuels the van with or without having any staff on board.
7.Maintains and submits to Supervisor logs and mileage reports.
8.Each morning the van goes out, the driver is responsible to come in the office to pick up the day’s paperwork and any supplies. Carriers will be provided for the driver to transport these supplies.
9.At the site, the driver will level and set up the van. The driver will follow a shutdown process for the mammography unit for 3 minutes, per needed.
10.The driver is responsible for relaying the departure time to the staff assigned to the Van. This will vary according to the site. The driver will be provided a cell phone, which is to be turned on each morning upon arrival at the van so that the staff can contact the driver. During the day, the driver will be available by cell phone if there is a problem on the van that requires his attention.
11.The driver will determine if a site represents a safety issue for the staff and will make necessary accommodations, such as remaining with the van during the site visit if it is determined this is prudent, in extreme situations.
12.The driver will arrange for maintenance on the van, working with the Supervisor to attempt scheduling with minimal interruption to the site visits. If possible, the driver should schedule regular maintenance weeks ahead.
13.The driver should attempt to perform minor maintenance to the interior of the van, i.e., replace light bulbs, tighten screws, etc. as long as the company has the parts available. If the repair is more substantial, the driver will work with the Supervisor to obtain outside services.
14.When there is inclement weather, or potential inclement weather, the driver will get reliable indications of unsafe driving conditions as early or as reasonable as possible and make a decision with the Technical Coordinator and the Supervisor as to whether the van will go out that day or if the site needs to be cancelled. The driver is responsible for the safety of the van, staff and therefore, has the primary responsibility for making a determination as to whether a site should be cancelled due to hazardous driving conditions. He will inform the Supervisor by telephone of his decision.
15.The driver will work with the Supervisor to recruit and make arrangements for a back-up driver, as appropriate.
16.Periodically, the Supervisor will contact the driver to perform other appropriate duties, including but not limited to making deposits to the Cashier’s office, and assisting the office personnel with moving or lifting of heavy items (5 gallon bottle, etc.)
17.Scan appropriate patient documents as required to ensure operational flow.
18.The driver is expected to work on 3 – 5 Saturdays per year to staff special events.
19.Work closely with the Supervisor and Technical Coordinator to ensure efficient operations of the mammovan.
20.The Driver for the Mobile Van is in the public eye every day. He is a very visible member of the health care team whose goal is to provide healthcare to the women in our community efficiently and professionally.
21.Other duties, as assigned

Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid CDL driver’s license required. Must have a good driving record.

Experience Interpersonal skills required to exchange accurate information with supervisor, other employees and individuals as needed. CDL license and clear driving record history

CompetenciesAbility to do input data into the computer. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.

Mandatory: Must pass a Criminal background check, drug and road driving test.

Supervision Received
From the Supervisor. While on site, the Mammography Technologist will supervise him.

Supervision Exercised
May exercise supervision over staff on the Mammovan while on the road.

Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
