Job Description

Position Summary

To assist the provider with form completion, referral process, scheduling of procedures, registration of patients. To assist the patient and provide direction following the clinic appointment.

  Qualifications

Education           

  • High school graduate or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Two years of college is preferred.

Experience  

  • 1-2 years working experience in a medical environment, such as a hospital, doctor’s office, or ambulatory clinic.  Must have knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.  
  • Experience utilizing a web-based computerized system or experience with windows is necessary. 
  • Must have knowledge of electronic scheduling systems. Must have some knowledge of insurance guidelines and third party payers.

Competencies  

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to input data into the computer, and analyze data as requested.  Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow instructions. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.  Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations.  Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.  Must be able to handle conflict.
