Job Description

Position Summary
The Psychometrist plays a key role in the operation Psychological Assessment Service, under the supervision of the Director of the Service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Coordination with the Director of the Psychological Assessment Service for patient scheduling.
  2. To maintain a professional demeanor and exercise clinical skill and sensitivity in working with a diverse patient population.
  3. To administer and score psychological and neuropsychological tests and test batteries.
  4. To keep the Director of the Service informed as to the progress of patient examinations that they are participating in, and any concerns about or of the patient.
  5. To produce tabular and narrative summaries of tests scores.
  6. To maintain an adequate and organized inventory of test materials.
  7. To maintain an orderly and professional office environment t appropriate for the conduct of psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
  8. To demonstrate, in the conduct of their duties, awareness and observance of the guidelines and principles of the American Psychological Association pertaining to psychological assessment procedure.


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

Master’s degree in an area of psychology related to clinical service, or one year of graduate study in an area of psychology related to clinical service with completion of one or more graduate courses in psychological assessment techniques is preferred.
Six months experience in a health care setting that involves direct interaction with patients. Specific experience in the administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological assessment procedures

Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.  Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
