Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut.  CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment.

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The incumbent of this position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Master Patient Index (MPI) File.  This position is responsible for managing all paperwork (sorting, scanning, quality checks, etc.) while maintaining compliance with all State and Federal regulations regarding Medical Record accuracy, analysis, completion and release of records in the acute care hospital environment.  The incumbent will be expected to stay current in all technological requirements and advancements necessary to carry out these duties as we migrate to an electronic health record (HER).  Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee related information.

The Medical Record includes both the paper chart as well as the electronic health information contained in the Hospital Information System (Meditech)


Job Requirements

•High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
•Computer skills or courses in secretarial/clerical sciences, or medical record technology desired.
•Minimum of one year of clerical experience in a hospital setting is required.
•Experience in a medical record office preferred.
•Customer service skills or training in customer relations preferred.
•Medical terminology training preferred.
•Experience dealing with the public preferred. Must be able to speak, read and write English.
