Job Description

Summary: The Information Systems Coordinator is responsible for working with the Information Systems and Operations Coordinator to maintain the SAFEty Initiative information technology systems and networks, provide end user support, and perform both technical and administrative tasks to ensure functionality and efficiency of computer and telecom systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Information Systems and Operations Coordinator on projects within the structure of the
  • SAFEty Initiative programs.
  • Coordinate with the Information Systems and Operations Coordinator to develop and maintain technology standards, policies and procedures to ensure the security and privacy of the division’s information and protection of its IT assets
  • Maintain licenses and upgrade schedules
  • Report on information related to the maintenance, life-cycle, licensing, maintenance contracts, and warranties
  • Coordinate with the Information Systems and Operations Coordinator to maintain contact with appropriate vendors and suppliers regarding current technology, equipment, prices and terms of agreements
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs and data restoration
  • Travel to each program site regularly in order to provide end user support, training and technical assistance
  • Install and configure software and hardware (printers, network cards etc.)
  • Research potential new software applications and areas where new technology may be utilized to gain better efficiency and improve productivity in the division
  • Act as the liaison between end users and the Information Systems and Operations Coordinator on issues related to the efficient use and security of electronic assets
  • Collaborate with other professionals to maintain standards and functionality of the SAFEty Initiative information systems.
  • Works on special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in computer studies or related field
  • Computer Skills:  Technical software skills and experience: WINDOWS Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suites, network service, protocols and configurations (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN), imaging software, remote control software, various support applications (Exchange Outlook, Crystal Reports, Financial Edge).  Comprehensive knowledge of state-of-the-art computer hardware (personal computers, servers, printers, scanners and other peripheral equipment) and software applications. Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues

  • Program sites are located throughout the Chicago area, including the North and South sides of Chicago.  This position will regularly travel to each of these facilities
  • Each SAFEty program site operates on a 24/7 basis, 365 days per year.  To meet both the needs of our participants and contractual obligations, employees of SAFEty are required to be flexible in regards to scheduling and work location.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
