Job Description

Summary:   Training Coordinator will provide ongoing support to the Learning Development Specialist and all members of the Policy and Training Department. Some of these responsibilities include managing all training documents, recording trainings completed, communicating with managers to identify training needs and mapping out development plans for teams and individuals. Training Coordinators are responsible for managing, designing, and coordinating all training programs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide administrative support to The Learning Development Specialist in all daily functions

  • Coordinating internal and external resources

  • Work with the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Maintain reports (development, delivery, costs metrics, monthly productivity, etc)

  • Review, edit and update training decks, program documents and policies.

  • Collaborates with LDS to meet training goals within the SAFEty programs and implements operational changes to enhance effectiveness.

  • Supports management in implementation of corrective actions to eliminate regulatory deficiencies in training.

  • May assist in the development and facilitation of operational training materials and programs.

  • Creates, maintains, and audits compliant training records and files

  • Review and update internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and annual training requirements, including new procedure training and re-certification activities.

  • Build and maintain training schedules and records

  • Assist peers in conducting periodic audits and reviews SAFEty programs to ensure compliance

  • Provide input into annual training strategy and plan

  • Stay up to date with current training methods and best practices

  • Administers course evaluations and assigns learner course completions through the LMS.

  • Builds and sustains working relationships with program leaders (such as leads, supervisors, directors and managers) and colleagues through continuous communication and reporting

  • Manage logistics and prepare brochures, multimedia visual aids, presentations and instructional training materials as handbooks, visual aids, online tutorials, demonstration models, and supporting training reference documentation

  • Keep up-to-date on developments and innovations in training and education in current work sector so that the organization’s training activities remain current and relevant

  • Manage record retention process for all training documentation

  • Performs other job duties as assigned

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in education or a social services field. Minimum of one (1) year of previous training experience within a juvenile justice, residential care, or detention facility .A minimum of two (1) year experience coordinating  training workshops for groups of various sizes. Excellent presentation skills. A resilient personality to handle multiple pressures from a variety of audiences and balance their learning needs in accordance with training objectives.
  • Computer Skills: LMS experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; online presentation software,(i.e.Prezi, Emaze, Genially, etc), and other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
