Job Description

The function of the department is to manufacture components for high performance race engines for Honda.  The purpose and function of this position is to improve the efficiency and cost of manufacturing prototype components designed from the engineering. Design tooling and fixtures and create manufacturing process from scratch to be able to manufacture the complex parts from the designers. Provide mechanical, manufacturing guidance to the engineering during concept of designs and before drawings are released to ensure components are designed for manufacturability requirements.

Minimum of a High School diploma. Understanding and knowledgable of geometry and trigonometry principles. Some machine shop/manufacturing technology and tooling coursework. Minimum of 7-10 years machining experience using conventional and CNC machines; 7 years of experience programming CNC, creating tooling, fixtures and manufacturing processes to manufacture components. Strong understanding and experience with close tolerance machining and using precise measuring tools. Comprehensive knowledge of machine setup procedures. -Thorough understanding of pneumatic, hydraulics, welding and electrical. Experience in grinding and/or re-sharpen cutting tool; operating all standard machine tools and experience in machining complex parts.  Extensive experience in leading analysis and trouble shooting of manufacturing problems. Experience recommending countermeasures to manufacturing related problems. Experience generating technical and summary reports. Ability to effectively interface with multiple departments and personality types.


Minimum 7 years of CAM Software experience including creating tool path process using CAM software; programming in Master CAM and or CATIA for the CNC machines. Experience in designing tooling and fixtures using CAD software. CATIA experience is a plus. Experience in modifying enigneering models for the appropriate CNC machines.  Experience in designing CAD models. Experience in developing manufacturing process to machine complex parts.  Complete understanding of reading blueprints and drawings.  Expert in precision measuring and layout tools.  Knowledgable of metallurgy, heat treatment and machining tools.  PC Proficiency. Experience with lathes Mills-Horizontal and Vertical. CNC Milling Machines; CNC Turning Center; Drill press; Band and. Horizontal saw and Deburring with hand tools.


Good verbal and written communication ability. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Ability to effectively plan projects and delivery outcomes that meet tight deadlines and quality standards. Ability to enforce all department operating and safety policies and procedures.  Experience in preparing meeting presentation materials. Proficient using MS Navision and Project. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and Word. Extreme accuracy, detail and follow up skills necessary. Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple assignments concurrently.
