Entry Level Procurement/Purchasing Positions

Honda is seeking driven individuals to join various departments within Honda’s Procurement/Purchasing Division. This opening represents multiple entry level positions located in the Marysville, Ohio area. Below is a brief description of the different types of positions. Please note, these descriptions do not reflect all roles and responsibilities. Additional information about the openings will be provided if you are selected further.

Commodity Buyer:

Honda’s Commodity Buyers are responsible for researching, evaluating and buying automotive parts for the North American Automotive Purchasing Department.  They are also responsible for correlating cost and supplier selection with both regional and global design functions.  Additionally, Commodity Buyers correlate and select suppliers in support of stable quality and delivery for all America's manufacturing plants.

Main responsibilities of the role:

Accurate & timely supplier selection & Bill-of-Material (BOM) maintenance, establish logical new model cost targets, achieve new model cost targets through effective supplier selection and negotiation, achieve annual mass production cost improvement goals, quotation management, effective supplier relationship and project management, develop part and supplier strategies including cost reduction, gain consensus on new model supplier selection with related departments, maintain Global Maker Layout (GML) system, issue Request-for-Quote (RFQs)  and manage RFQ process, and negotiate pricing with suppliers and process quotations.

Buyer:

Buyers for Honda Purchasing’s New Model department are responsible for New Model Program Management. New Model Buyers are responsible for managing supplier's overall maturation throughout new model development timing.

Main Responsibilities include:

Issue drawings and data to suppliers, confirm impact to parts/tooling and assess related compensation requests, manage process for tooling from negotiating scheduling to tool maturation, confirm supplier readiness against project targets at key stages in development, order and expedite parts for new model trials, establish trial part pricing, manage special projects for improvement, responsible for Design Change Control, Tooling Control and cost control, responsible for Part Order / Delivery and transition to Mass Production and supplier account management

What you need to be successful in these roles:

Ability to: negotiate based on logic, manage cost & customer and supplier relationships, work in teams and build consensus, manage projects, problem solve, multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision

Basic math skills and computer skills (including e-mail, Excel and other Microsoft Office software)

Communication skills (verbal & written)

Required Experience:

Minimum 3 months of relevant experience required (including co-op/internship experience)


Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or relevant discipline

Degree in Purchasing related discipline strongly preferred

Additional information:

Office base with travel required.  As much as 2-3 days/week often overnight / International - weekly duration (increasing during critical development periods)

Potential for last minute travel (Crisis support)

Possible shift time adjustment to support crucial development phases or Crisis activity

Willingness to work overtime as needed
