Job Description

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer for an opportunity in our Facilities department at Honda R&D.  

This position will require a candidate to wear many hats: From Project management to Project Engineer, you will have diverse knowledge of engineering practices and principles, using advanced techniques. You will be responsible for managing projects in planning, coordination, and collaborating with other engineers. These assignments will be complex and unique, and will require a hands-on approach. 

The primary roles and responsibilities include applying electrical engineering and energy management principles and practices to R&D office and test facility infrastructure support.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Planning, design, construction and maintenance/repair of facility power distribution, lighting, fire detection/alarm, and other ancillary support systems.
  • Field-application of electrical engineering principles, including analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Managing quality, cost and delivery of electrical system procurement, installation, and maintenance/repair activities.
  • Managing contractors and suppliers for compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Preparation of concept, scope, design, procurement, and construction-related documents.

Requirements for this position include:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Energy Engineering and a minimum of 8 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Our team is looking for someone who works well independently and enjoys working with colleagues to coordinate efforts to ensure completion. 

Candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple assignments and competing priorities.  As a contributor, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.  In addition, this role requires analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions. 

PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software) and excellent communication/interpersonal skills required. Proficiencies in AutoCAD and SketchUp are preferred.  

Ability to travel and work overtime may be required.
