Facilities Equipment Service Technician

Perform facilities equipment service staff activities to maintain a high level of customer service in building, equipment, and utility operations.

Continuously developing associate skills and finding ways of introducing new technologies and efficiency improvements.

Primary role will focus on electrical systems.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Complete preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building controls).
  2. Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield.
  3. Performs equipment failure analysis (including preventative and unscheduled maintenance).
  4. Troubleshoots and diagnose equipment problems.
  5. Participate in a reliability centered maintenance program for equipment.
  6. Participate in team activities to develop and maintain long term equipment reliability.
  7. Proactively communicate with leadership, team members and customers. Utilize appropriate methods to consistently provide accurate and timely information.
  8.  Support total equipment management through daily and proactive activities to improve operations, promoting business targets and objectives
  9. Operate in a safe and respectful way that is consistent with HAM policies and procedures
  10. Provide mentorship and teambuilding through work habits, communication and the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
  11. Expand and maintain technical expertise through formal and on-the-job training opportunities.
  12. Support and engage in activities that drive new ideas, leveraging new technology, new methods and approaches to positively impact HAM’s competitiveness.

Perform daily assigned work order tasks and communicate any follow-up needed.

Enter details and time worked in the equipment management system. (Maximo)

Order parts needed to complete PM, Plan, or Unplanned jobs.

Suggest and revise PM's to properly maintain facilities equipment.

* Complete daily tasks and follow-up on emergency and unscheduled work.

Daily adherence to Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Working knowledge of Facilities low and medium voltage electrical equipment (including substations, switches, cable, starters, VFDs, MCC, breakers, bus duct) and Building Management Systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, such as HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Plumbing & Piping.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems including control circuits up to medium voltage (4160 V) motors and contactors
  • Electrical - ability to troubleshoot 480 Volts and below and 4kV. Ability to troubleshoot 12 kV would be beneficial
  • Mechanical - understanding of HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Plumbing & Piping.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas to get a point across.
  • Comply with Honda Health and Safety Policies
  • Proficient in facility equipment troubleshooting 
  • Minimum computer (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Facilities related computer systems skills (including Maximo)
  • Working knowledge of facilities control & monitoring systems (ex. Andover/EBO, Simplex, ION/Powerlogic, etc.)
  • Demonstrates good use of conflict resolution & persuasion; builds constructive & effective relationships.
  • Demonstrate self-motivated, creative thinking, and a positive attitude
  • Continuous improvement and customer service driven
  • Must use time effectively & prevent irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan/prioritize work assignments, submit schedules, set clear milestones & completion dates.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collect & analyze pertinent date, identify root cause, and develop effective countermeasures.

Required work experience:

  • Desired: 3 years of experience in a Facilities environment (industrial, or heavy commercial installation)
  • Will consider well qualified entry level candidates.

Required education:

Completion of 2-year technical degree or equivalent equipment service experience.

Honda Factors:

Participate in Honda related improvement activities such as Honda Improvement Program (HIP)

Work area focused on interior and exterior facilities mechanical room and manufacturing floor environment

Infrequent - Occasional trips to other plants or suppliers ( less than 1x per month ) Overnight travel may be required.

Ability to work effectively with production, equipment service associates and contractors

Willing to suggest improvements or enhancements to facilities operations.

Ability to prioritize work assignments with efficient time management.

Willingness to work weekends, all shifts, overtime, and shutdowns as required.

Complete the required ES Technical Development Program (TDP) consisting of approx. 700 hours of classwork and hands-on training over a 4 yr. period.

Demonstrate competence with Honda Core Non Exempt Role and Responsibilites for Maintenance Technician / Equipment Service.
