Job Description

Honda is currently seeking an automotive powertrain functional performance test engineer to join our transmission development team in Raymond, Ohio.  Our unique environment allows for a combination of desk, and hands-on work.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual that demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Planning and preparing transmission function testing, both at the unit and vehicle level. Establishing the data acquisition plans, dyno or test vehicle set up and testing parameters.
  • Performing in-car and dyno transmission testing. Record and analyze data prepare test reports and present results.
  • Analyze components to ensure targets are met. Predict performance and failure modes, interpret test results and provide required design data.
  • Propose countermeasures based on sound analysis of test results.
  • Coordinate prototype parts by working with fabrication companies and support the manufacturing of parts.
  • Maintain a schedule of activities, communicate with testing and design staff to meet overall development milestones.

BSME and a minimum of 1 year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in an automotive testing is required.  Background should include a strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with data acquisition software and hardware such as strain gauges, pressure sensors, G meters or other data acquisition sensors. Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software) and excellent communication/interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter who can accomplish complex tasks on time with high quality under minimal supervision is required. The ability to travel, join morning or evening meetings with other global offices and work overtime may be required.
