About this position:

Responsible for identifying quality issues, establishing containment, developing and implementing countermeasures to ensure acceptable quality for Honda products and parts. Performs activity related to the development, implementation, operation and documentation of all CMM layout equipment related to maintaining quality for automotive white bodies.  This position is within the Weld Department at Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio.

Your responsibilities:

Problem Solve/Root Cause Analysis:

  • Lead and manage complex problem solving analysis, investigations, report writing, and containment/repair activity utilizing quality engineering principles
  • Perform technical in-depth analysis related to the production process to minimize customer concerns
  • Identify reoccurring problems and conduct design problem analysis to solve the problems

Countermeasure Implementation:

  • Review new model drawings/parts and identify actual and potential problems, clarify and review with applicable departments, implement countermeasures to avoid problem occurrence at mass production
  • Coordinate and lead plant-wide countermeasure activities, recommend a permanent countermeasure based on investigation and analysis which could include a design change, a modification of a supplier part, or an in-house adjustment
  • Analyze proposed countermeasures, judge their effectiveness once implemented, and manage change point control

New Model activity related to Quality:

  • Develop testing and procedure methods for quality verification by applying measures, sampling methods, testing methodology, and other procedures to ensure quality standards are met
  • Lead design activity with related departments, suppliers, and R&D to confirm design verses actual manufacturing condition and that the design is acceptable based on past problem history
  • Provide technical support throughout tool trials and crisis activity, as needed
  • Conduct feasibility studies on new technology, design concepts, and equipment

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee maintenance and PM schedules pertaining to all layout CMM equipment for quality
  • Implement and create all programming for CMM layout equipment including operation and training
  • Organize and structure white body accuracy goals
  • Investigation of new technologies and systems pertaining to layout equipment to match existing or emerging technologies out in the market
  • Positively integrate and interact with other groups both within and outside of the department to achieve work schedule and quality targets
  • Work with an open mind set to include and/or complete different department’s layout requests
  • Support weekend work, off shifts and holidays as activity and/or requests present themselves

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and engineering principles as it relates to new model, safety, quality, and delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high-impact communication skills, project management skills, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to present to varying audiences, conduct in-depth technical analysis, lead and prioritize multiple projects, work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Dimensional layout knowledge, interpret data and understanding of dimensional tolerance and GDNT
  • Proficient CATIA & Enovia skills – capable of producing and operating 2D/3D models
  • Advanced problem solving skills and proficient in problem analysis to determine root cause & implement corrective countermeasures
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office products
  • Monitor/ensure safety compliance
  • General understanding of the overall Weld department, production line and area layout

Required work experience:

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.  Additional experience may be required based on education.

Required education:

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Technical Design); or equivalent relevant experience.
