Those are just a few things that our nurses say about working at Hospice of the Piedmont.  We currently are recruiting for a Staff RN to join our homecare team. This position is located in our homecare division and travels, within our four county service area, to provide nursing care to hospice patients in their homes and inpatient facilities.  Scheduled hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with some on-call responsibilities.

  • Assesses physical, environmental/safety needs of patient.

  • Develops and coordinates plan of care in collaboration with patient, significant others, and interdisciplinary care team members to focus on holistic needs of patient in order to assure satisfactory outcomes for patient.

  • Makes nursing visits according to the Plan of Care.  Delegates appropriate interventions to LPN and nurse aides.  Follows organizational policy at time of death.

  • Acts in a professional manner to collaborate with physicians, other health care providers, and interdisciplinary team members and makes timely reports of pertinent information to appropriate health care professionals.

  • Accurately and timely documents nursing assessment, interventions, and updates to Plan of Care according to the nursing standards of this organization. 

  • Supervises nurse aides and LPNs in the home and documents supervision according to organizational policy. 

  • Provides caregiver with appropriate instruction to support safe care of the patient in the home and in accordance with the current plan of care.

  • Complies with organizational nursing standards.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Participates in on-call schedule prn.

  • Other duties as assigned to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

Job Requirements


  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing – Associates Degree, (BSN preferred)

  • One year clinical nursing experience

  • Current North Carolina Registered Nurse license

  • Valid NC driver’s license and reliable independent transportation

  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships and courteous interaction with public

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

  • Ability to read signs, meters, and hear patient communication
