Weekend Night Nurse Aide - Part-time

Job Description

Hours:  Saturday and Sunday  - 7:00 pm - 7:30 am

Provides appropriate and safe personal care while observing protocols to support patient’s dignity.  Assignment may include:

  • Bathing (assist, bed bath, shower, Arjo)

  • Mouth care, skin care, hair and nail care

  • Linen changes and bed making

  • Dressing and undressing

  • Turning and repositioning

  • Transfers

  • Use of Hoyer lift

  • Assisting with ambulation

  • Range of motion exercises

  • Preparing patients for meal time and assisting with feeding

  • Recording intake and output

  • Assisting with elimination needs

  • Maintaining bed in low position with call bell accessible 

  • Maintaining side rails up as directed by staff nurse

  • Maintaining good infection control practices.

  • Tidying patient room and family areas

  • Laundering personal laundry  

  • Reports changes in patient’s condition, concerns about patient and/or family to appropriate nursing staff in a timely fashion and participates in interdisciplinary team conferences as necessary.
  • Assists in organizing medical supply, laundry room and family areas according to instructions from nursing staff.
  • Documents patient care according to agency policy and procedures; documentation is clear, complete, concise, and timely.

Job Requirements


  • Satisfactory completion of an approved nurse aid training and competency evaluation program

  • Currently listed in good standing with the NCDHHS Nurse Aide I Registry

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a nurse aide

  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships and courteous interaction with public

  • Ability to read signs, meters, and hear patient communication

Physical Factors:

  • Unpredictable and varying situations in the in-patient environment

  • Ability to transfer patients and carry DME

  • Risk of exposure to blood or body fluids, infectious diseases, sharp objects, chemotherapy agents, and trauma secondary to automobile accident. 

  • Prolonged standing, walking and sitting
