The Director of Bereavement Services is an Interdisciplinary Team Member whose primary responsibility is to provide individual and family counseling to bereaved families, as well as oversee the Bereavement department/grief support groups.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree preferred in psychology, social work, human services or related field.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas to practice licensed counseling. (Example of appropriate credentials:  LMSW, LCSW preferred)
  • Five years experience in health care field.
  • Two years experience in hospice preferred.
  • Two years management experience in health care setting preferred.
  • Computer skills required

Teams work with primary care physicians, patients and families to identify goals and create a unique plan of care for each patient. We offer educated counsel and compassionate support and bereavement counseling to loved ones and family members.

Houston Hospice is a member of the Texas Medical Center, Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance and the Texas New Mexico Hospice Organization. Houston Hospice is accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice and by Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc (CHAP). CHAP accreditation publicly certifies that an organization has voluntarily met the highest standards of excellence for home and/or community-based health care.
