Job Description


Hospice Nurse Educator - FT Position Available!


  • Designs and conducts training of IT devices.
  • Develops and implementation of clinical software programs (including but not limited to the interfaces with the Allscripts program).
  • Assists with program upgrades and Beta testing of devices.
  • Designs and conducts training for users of the Allscripts program per Houston Hospice guidelines.
  • Conducts user needs assessments.
  • Monitors effectiveness of training on employees.
  • Travels to sites as needed for training staff, provide ongoing support to Allscripts users.
  • Customizes and inputs Allscripts program information
  • Participates in/develops standards of Practice relating to Allscripts use.
  • Maintains current Allscripts manuals on Public Drive.
  • Responsible for  “rollout” of Allscripts into new functional areas.
  • Performs program updates to Allscripts and Beta testing.
  • Acts as Allscripts liaison for staff and IT
  • Conducts needs assessments for Patient Services education.
  • Develops audits of educational programs; performs audits as appropriate.
  • Provides summary of the educational programs and suggests improvement strategies.
  • Prepares reports on educational activity within the department.
  • Works in cooperation with all Houston Hospice Departments and attending Physicians.
  • Understands and adheres to organizational compliance and privacy programs.
  • Assists in providing services that fosters the organization’s mission, values, vision and goals
  • Provides on-call support for afterhours and weekend users (as needed).
  • Works after-hours and weekends when training and education is needed.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or requested by management.

  • Four years hospice or home health experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer experience (spreadsheet and databases/necessary.
  • Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred
