LTL Dock/Shipping Lead - Piqua, OH
Dock Lead is responsible for directing and controlling all available resources to ensure timely, damage-free loading of freight. Dock Lead assists in ensuring activities of parts processors are engaged in fulfilling orders, loading trucks and in moving product onto pallets per warehouse specifications. Lead must ensure all work is performed according to company approved procedures, standards and specifications. Lead must diagnose and handle shipping discrepancies/claims. The lead must provide a clean, safe environment for all personnel and visiting customers.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Trains new dock associates and provides continuous feedback and coaching in partnership with the shipping supervisor
  • Schedules pickups for carriers other than UPS
  • Make sure docks are kept clean and safe
  • Use Microsoft Software to track processing and loading information as it pertains to LTL orders and personnel  
  • Timely communication upward of any/all workflow pertaining to over sized/large orders
  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Loading trucks with pallet jack and/or forklift
  • Able to lift 50lb on a consistent basis
  • Verifies that the driver receives all paperwork (bill of lading, commercial invoice, export documents)
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, investigate, and communicate all shipping discrepancies to the involved departments/parties
  • Maintains adequate record keeping
  • Assures compliance with all safety and dock work practices.
  • Attends monthly safety meeting
  • Performs activities of workers supervised
  • Use of shrink wrap, scale, dunnage, and void fill when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • 2-3 years total warehouse or LTL freight experience preferred
  • High achiever/performer-strives for maximum service needs
  • Relationship building skills-maintained disciplined and professional
  • Results driven and oriented
  • Multi-tasking ability
  • Stress management skills-works well while managing stress in a healthy way
  • Problem solver-solves problems with the needs of the customer and company in mind

  • Communicator-ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with warehouse teams, customer care, drivers, warehouse manager
  • Ability to handle difficult dock situations and personalities
  • Highly organized
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety and warehouse safety rules preferred
