Job Description


Own and champion the development and implementation of ITW’s global strategic sourcing strategy within the ITW Performance Polymers division.

Contribute toward the development of the category strategy on the platform level and drive related cost reduction initiatives. To serve as the Category “subject matter expert” and provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders, whilst also optimizing the development of the sourcing strategy and its execution.

Leadership of category activities with suppliers including negotiating and finalising strategic supplier agreements on divisional level - Strategic Sourcing.


  • Prepares, coordinates and conducts negotiations with suppliers. Negotiates agreements to achieve results that support sourcing strategies and ITW Performance Polymers business objectives.

  • Develops category specific sourcing strategies, understands relevant internal and external data and creates product/supply risk assessments. Applies 80/20 in prioritizing and where to lay the focus on spend management.

  • Summarizes data analysis and purchasing expertise to develop strategic sourcing strategies. Key elements of this include effective strategy execution, monitoring results and renewing the strategy as market conditions evolve.

  • Manages supplier relationships by developing supplier programs and identifying continuous improvement initiatives.  Tracks supplier performance and provides feedback.  Looks for opportunities to build business relationships by matching supplier capabilities with ITW Performance Polymers business objectives.

  • Analyzes supplier financial position to assess viability as an ITW Performance Polymers supplier. Understands strengths and weaknesses of supplier and tracks KPIs and financial development of supplier.

  • Gathers and utilizes the appropriate information to develop contracts geared to lower total cost and improve supplier relationships.  Manages contracts by monitoring contract compliance and updating contracts based on re-negotiation processes.

Job Requirements


BS degree (eg. Supply Chain Management) or equivalent business experience and  7 – 10 year’s proven experience in professional sourcing and purchasing in an international industrial business.

Previous category management/strategic sourcing experience with knowledge of business improvement techniques and their practical application.

Ability to understand chemistry category specific business, technology and government trends. Ability to understand supply market and alternative/competition products within the industry. Applies this information to increase ITW Performance Polymers competitive advantage.

Ability to identify, assess and execute savings initiatives beyond the traditional Raw Material price negotiations (e.g., formulation optimization, Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and to successfully work cross-functionally (primarily R&D) to get these non-traditional projects completed.

Demonstrates an understanding of ITW Performance Polymers products, internal business processes, external customer segments, strategic direction and business objectives.  Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on ITW Performance Polymers strategic direction.

Ability to understand financial concepts, invoicing, accounts payable and other financial business processes. Interprets financial data, analyzes cost structures and determines financial impacts of decisions.

Excellent verbal and written skills in English - both business and technical nature with strong presentation skills.

Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight timescales.

Strong Microsoft Office and ERP-system skills required.

Practical knowledge and commitment to the ITW Tool Box, especially FTB 80/20 and general knowledge of ITW Performance Polymers product range.

Ability to work with diverse cultures.


Office environment. 25 -30% travel required in relation to meetings with corporate strategic sourcing activities and visits to other Performance Polymers locations. This position sits in either Danvers, MA or Montgomeryville, PA.
