BASIC DESCRIPTION:

The Product Specialist will play a key role in supporting our Segment Leaders and Product Managers with driving process efficiency and growth through portfolio management, strategic marketing initiative and product development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partner with Segment Managers to initiate and manage product updates including new product launches, suspension, discontinuation and pricing changes
  • Effectively utilize Aplus ERP, Product Information Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Intranet, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other ITW systems to manage and complete Customers’ requests for product information
  • Key division contact for questions relating to accessories, consumables and service parts
  • Analyze the portfolio and lead Product Line Simplification (PLS) that meets customer commitment and Miller Electric’s End of Life Policy (EOL)
  • Support the development and documentation of business Standard Operating Procedures, product refresh and training materials, Specification Sheets, Operators Manual, Learning Module System, etc.
  • Update software upgrade instruction for Welder Training Solutions as needed
  • Send notification to internal and external customers on bug fixes and product feature changes working with the Sustaining Engineer
  • Analyze product warranty claims, highlighting top issues and tracking resolution with Tech Support and Sustaining Engineer
  • Review inventory grading with Finance and Materials team to ensure the right in-stock mix and minimize grading hit
  • Review our company and top channel partners’ websites for content accuracy and trends
  • Gain the technical knowledge of the division’s products and applications including differentiation from competitors
  • Drive product demonstration efficiency tactics to distributors and sales team to increase demo opportunities and support in the field
  • Organize materials and support product presentations, demos, conferences and trade shows
  • Prepare and provide ad-hoc analysis to the Marketing and PM team – product relationships with equipment, competitive landscape, benchmarking, market sizing, etc.
  • Be available to support field VOC for future products and product enhancements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in Marketing, Engineering and/or Project Management
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skill
  • Proven ability to analyze current business issues and translate to strategic actions
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, high motivation, and solid decision-making abilities
  • Well organized, aggressive self-starter with the willingness to learn and grow
  • Demonstrated ability to present and facilitate in front of groups
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 30% travel required
