Job Description

Ahern, one of the leading mechanical and fire protection contractors in the United States, has an exciting opportunity for a Pre Apprentice Welder in Fond du Lac in Pipe Fabrication Shop.  Building a first class reputation in the industry since 1880 did not happen by chance. How you will contribute: 

Duties of this position would include welding, following weld processes including GMAW, GTAW and FCAW, blueprint reading, material handling, and operating a forklift, SkyTrak and/or tractor. This position is second shift.

What you need to qualify:

Welder applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and must meet required norms on an aptitude test.   Candidates must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend and crouch throughout a 10-hour shift, and be able to effectively read and use measuring devices. Must be able to pass a weld test using current processes and 6Gfixed position on pipe.  Candidates must have demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.  You can stand out above other candidates by having a positive attitude, possessing excellent problem solving skills, and being able to perform duties safely and effectively in a fast-paced work environment that will be loud at times.  Safety regulations must be followed at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, hand, knee and foot protection).
