Job Description

KVC Health Systems, headquartered in the greater Kansas City area, is a private, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and a national leader in child welfare and behavioral healthcare. The organization is committed to its mission of enriching and enhancing the lives of children and families by providing medical and behavioral healthcare, social services, and education.

KVC Health Systems is seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for the timely preparation and analysis of the financial statements, accurate general ledger balances, supporting schedules, grant reporting and budget analysis. A passion for nonprofits and enthusiasm to learn are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Training and support will be provided.

  • Grant reporting
  • Create and distribute accurate and timely financial statements
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Make independent decisions on financial statements using GAAP
  • Identify financial statement variances and/or trends, review general ledger activity, document variance explanations and provide input to management
  • Assist with financial audit preparation
  • Assist with the review and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures that enhance controls and efficiencies
  • Maintain written Accounting procedures and write new procedures as needed
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Perform other duties as assigned
