Job Description

1 Full-time position

  • Demonstrates understanding of insurance remittances, vouchers and explanation of payment structure.  
  • Process the daily application of payment receipts from various payers and/or patients.
  • Ensure that receipts are applied timely and accurately to each patient account.
  • Monitor the daily vouchers and remittances for denials or zero payments and distribute copies accordingly.
  • Identify and research any receipts are not related to inpatient accounts such as miscellaneous receipts and initiate resolution of unapplied cash items.
  • Perform cash reconciliations on finance spreadsheets as needed
  • Assist on various requests associated with cash/receipts, researching checks, posting issues or other payment related concerns.
  • Upload payment EOP and vouchers to Athena for outpatient accounts.
  • Comply with departmental and organizational policies including but not limited to dress code, use of supplies, telephones and computers.  Able to participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and other activities as related to job performance, job knowledge and state regulations.
  • Adheres to work schedules and maintains a safe and orderly work area at all times, maintaining awareness of and compliance with safety policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 5+ years in healthcare required

  • 3 years or more of experience in cash receipts with hospital receivables required.

  • 1 year recent (within the past 2 years) work experience in medical receivables required.

  • 1yr experience of Medicaid Managed Care Programs required  

  • PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, with a minimum of  3 Yrs. experience working payment application preferred.
