Lasko Products, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of portable fans and heaters for over 100 years, is seeking a Design Assurance Manager to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the Design Assurance team in the qualification and on-going quality improvements of key products in the home comfort and environment category.

The Design Assurance Manager will lead the initiative to build quality into our products. This position is responsible for identifying key quality requirements on new products, new product qualification and ongoing warranty improvement programs for the Lasko family of brands. This position requires excellent analytical skills that will drive data-based decision by identifying facts and trends. The person should be a self-motivated individual that has experience translating consumer needs into product qualification requirements. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and Lead the design assurance support for NPD projects to ensure all quality objectives are met and products are developed in accordance with design control requirements
  • Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing early in the design stage to build quality into the product design and manufacturing process including leading the development of QFD’s and FMEA’s
  • Manage and lead the Design Assurance engineers for investigation of field problems associated with product design including owning the CAPA process to address any identified issues
  • Develop engineering team through coaching, mentoring and performance management to deliver a world class functional team
  • Support post market surveillance processes through the analysis of field performance, identification of trends and risks, and actions to eliminate or mitigate adverse post market issues
  • Develop mastery of our products and analyze complaint data, post market surveillance and risk analysis to assist in the identification of potential product improvements based on sound engineering principles
  • Participate as key Quality Leader in organizational activities such as Product Design Reviews, TollGate Reviews, Safety Reviews and other related activities.
  • Own the Product Start Authorization (PSA) process and approval by working with engineering to ensure all open qualification testing, documentation and action items are closed out prior to the Production Start Authorization release
  • Identifies, recommends, and/or implements design or test methods, test fixture development, and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
  • Quality and Safety requirement development throughout the product development phases, ensuring testability in all levels of requirements
  • Evaluates acceptability of Root Cause Analysis and CAPA from product qualification to end of life

KPI’s of which the Design Assurance Manager will be measured by:

  • Warranty Return Rate
  • Schedule Attainment
  • Test Plan Coverage


  • Bachelor's Degree required; an MBA is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading Design Assurance or Quality Assurance teams
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant project management - product development experience including experience participating on project-oriented teams.
  • Black Belt certification
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab with a working knowledge of using project management software (i.e. SmartSheets or MS Project)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (estimated 5%)
