Job Description

Lasko Products, a leading provider of home comfort products for over 100 years, is seeking a Director for Commercial Business Unit. Located at our corporate offices in West Chester, Pennsylvania, you will lead a team in strengthening our existing portfolio of products as well as developing new products and categories. The Director will lead a team of Product Managers that manage the existing portfolio of air circulation and filtration products used in the home and for water and fire damage restoration under the brands of B-Air and Air King. The primary focus will be on developing new products that drive sales, market share, and profitability. This position requires excellent project management skills and the ability to effectively work with others across the organization. This person should be a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic that has experience with managing the complete life cycle of products, conducting market research, and possess strong financial acumen.


Essential Functions                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

  • Lead the product management team with a focus on developing products that meet consumer and customer needs based on market trends and customer identified requirements.
  • Lead product management activities including life-cycle management and implementation of profitable new products and introductions in assigned product segment(s) for specific retail/channel customers.
  • Lead the development and exploration of business cases for new product concepts and new product channels, including clearly defined Go-To-Market strategies
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales and Engineering to manage the product line profitability, including setting pricing and end of product life inventory management.
  • Interact and influence regularly with key stakeholders including senior executives, customers, and board members.
  • Develop a 3-year product plan for assigned product categories with consideration of key target market segments and strategic focus delivering product line growth and profitability.
  • Lead consumer research to understand trends and unmet consumer needs that will drive innovative growth within the category.
  • Develop a deep understanding of market and competitors, their products, and how they go to market including pricing and promotion by leveraging existing materials and research (internal and external).
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and design to generate insights and opportunities through ideation, teardowns, mock-ups, and other analysis.
  • Collaborate with Sales to review strategic account plans as part of the annual operating planning process, along with quarterly updates for upper management and board members.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing in setting direction for marketing/sales support activities such as sales presentations, merchandising, promotions, collateral, packaging strategy and point-of-purchase for assigned product categories.
  • KPI’s of which the Director of Product Management will be measured by:
    • Gross Margin %
    • Category Growth
    • Budget Accuracy
    • New Product & Innovations Launches


Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Innovative leader with a successful track record of managing and coaching category and product manager(s).
  • Successful track record of launching new products, managing diverse categories, and executing the entire lifecycle (from idea to prototype to revenue to end-of-life).
  • Understand the importance of the intersection of Product Design, Technology, Value Proposition, and Brand Positioning to drive Lasko’s product development process
  • Passionate about bringing people of all disciplines (engineering, sales, marketing, supply chain, finance) together to capture opportunities and/or solve problems that have the greatest chance of overall success.
  • Clearly understands P&L management with solid analytical and financial skills essential for market and competitive evaluation, pricing and line management.
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with acute attention to detail.


Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree required; an MBA is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing direct report(s)
  • Ideally, minimum of 5-7 years of commercial goods or industrial product management experience, i.e., construction products, water damage and home restoration, HVAC products.
  • Consumer Packaged Goods or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods experience also preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; ERP experience is preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
