Job Description

Lasko Products, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of portable fans and heaters for over 100 years, is seeking a dynamic Human Resources professional to join our team.  This role, located in Fort Worth, Texas serves as a true business partner to the site leadership team by providing guidance and expertise on HR practices and procedures.  The HR Manager has responsibility for all HR plant functions including employment, talent management, benefits administration, training, and communications.

This position works with the location team in the areas of policies, programs, and practices that are part of the company’s human resources strategy. This position reports to Corporate HR with dotted-line responsibility to the Plant Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Drive a culture of people management excellence.

  • Lead the recruiting and talent acquisition efforts for the facility including developing job descriptions, sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates to meet current and future labor demands.
  • Manage the on-boarding new hires and the off- boarding process for voluntary/involuntary terminations.
  • Counsel plant leadership on staffing utilization, turnover control, compensation, performance management and other personnel matters.

  • Benefits administration for all plant employees.

  • Understanding and administering the union collective bargaining agreement as well as providing guidance and direction to management agreement terms.

  • Analyze training needs and working with corporate, develop recommendations and implementation for various training programs for hourly and plant management.

  • Respond to current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, employee benefits, etc.

  • Handling employee concerns, refereeing disputes, disciplinary action, performance improvement, and terminations.

  • Assure plant compliance and advise managers on organizational policy matters such as employee relations, EEO, harassment/discrimination issues, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, and FLSA.
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates and turnover.

  • Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers.  Work in conjunction with the Corporate EH&S Manager to implement policies and procedures aimed at reducing accidents and injuries.

  • Serve as trusted advisor (ombudsman) to managers and employees in promoting constructive employee relations approaches and practices.
  • Conduct investigations and recommends action plans, as needed.
  • Provide guidance to staff relating to employment, performance management, organizational development, compensation, employee welfare plans, health & safety, and plant security.
  • Assess the need for training and coordinate delivery.
  • Coordinate special events such as employee recognition programs, employee activities, etc.
  • Be visible presence on the production floor.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree;  preferably in HR or related field
  • 5 plus years of Human Resources supervision
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
  • Labor relations experience is strongly desired
  • Flexible hours are required as plants operate on a continuous shift schedule
  • Some travel may be required to other plants or to the corporate office
  • SPHR or PHR certification preferred
