Job Description/Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Molding Manager to oversee our organization’s production injection molding operations.  The ideal candidate will be highly organized and actively involved with all processes.  S/he will ensure manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process while monitoring employees and organizing workflows. S/he must be highly skilled in complex plastic injection molding operations and able to comprehend the multifaceted nature of the plastic injection manufacturing process with tool molding room and maintenance.  The ability to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing costs is also essential to ensure maximum quality and efficiency. This role is essential to our overall corporate objective – to ensure that the production processes result in products of maximum quality with maximum profits.  Provides leadership to supervision and employees and ensures they have the proper tools to perform their job safely and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

  1. Leads daily team performance center meetings with Operations team to review safety, quality and production performance.

  2. Conducts production Gemba walks to optimize production flow and efficiencies.

  3. Participates and practices Lean Manufacturing practices to such as Six Sigma, 5S, FMEA, 8K Problem Analysis.

  4. Reviews and updates Key Performance Indicators KPIs (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to ensure molding area is on track.

  5. Coordinates with the Maintenance Department to prioritize maintenance work orders in an effort to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and downtime.

  6. Ensures employees are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs.  Identifies training gaps and develops training plans.

  7. Works with Quality team to review Quality issues through HFI (Hold for Inspection) and scrap process.  Minimize rework and/or scrap due to non-conformance through problem resolution.

  8. Ability to generate an submit reports on performance and progress.

  9. Knowledge of all essential equipment and ability to oversee and schedule regular maintenance.

  10. Attends pre-shift meetings to observe and provide feedback to operations team focusing on continuous improvement.

  2. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to spot issues and efficiency/productivity and suggest improvements.

  3. Ability to set daily/weekly/monthly goals, communicating them effectively to employees.

  4. Strong work ethic – self-motivated and results driven.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. 10 years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 5 years in Plastic Injection Molding Management role tool room.

  2. BS on Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical required – Mold Die Tool Room Preventive Maintenance and repair, Lean Manufacturing, Solving Problem, six sigma is a plus.

  3. Working knowledge of various types of manufacturing injection molding machinery above 250 tons.

  4. High Technical knowledge in Molding Die & Injection Molding Machinery Process Control is a plus.

  5. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

  6. Lean Certification SMED preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to hold, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

 Plant is not a controlled atmosphere; PPE is required in all areas.
