Job Description

* Performs accurate and timely coding (CPT, ICD-10 HCPCS, modifiers).

* Maintains familiarity with such issues as HCFA coding regulations, concurrent care, multiple visits on the same day, consultation vs. referral, observation services and procedures.

* Assigned to EPIC work queues that are to be worked in a timely manner

* Attends seminars and workshops in order to maintain corresponding credentials.

* Elevates issues as appropriate to the Coding Supervisor.

* Meets monthly productivity and quality standards as follows: 9 cases per hour with a 95% accuracy in CPT and ICD-10.

* Understands coding trends to include NCD, LCD, and CMS guidelines and regulations.

* Handles in a professional and confidential manner all correspondence, documentation, and files. Maintains strict patient information confidentiality following HIPPA rules and guidelines; and reports any violation to the manager.

* Supports and adheres to CSMNS core values, policies, and procedures.

Job Requirements

Will consider other related experience and education. • One (1) plus years coding knowledge in physician billing such as Outpatient, Ancillary, Ambulatory Care and/or Inpatient coding is required. • Understands and applies appropriate teaching physician guidelines to coding. • Experience in Windows based applications (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook)
