Job Description

Compounding Pharmacy Technician

Are you looking to make a career change? Do you want to work with a highly reputable organization? Medix had the opportunity for you!

Compounding Technician - Pharmacy Technician - Certified Pharmacy Technician

Compounding Tech Daily Responsibilities:

The compounding technician has the potential to work within three different areas. The area will be selected by the manager.

1.The clean room (compounding) - This is where they are actually prepping the drugs.

2.Processing room - this is where they receive the labels from the doctors - pull the drugs from materials management based on the label and send the vials and label through to the clean room for prep.

  1. Drug receiving room - They are receiving the drug once it is compounded and putting it the pulley/elevator system to send up to the appropriate floor. They just have to check the label to confirm where it's going and select the appropriate floor on the machine. There is a tech upstairs to receive it from the conveyer belt and take it to the patient room.

This person must be proficient at math and pharmacy calculations - many compounding pharmacies do not require the techs to do the math, they spit out the label with exactly how much of each dose the need. These techs will just see the overall order and will have to determine how much of each vial they need for the doses, also keeping in mind minimizing waste - mis-using a vial can cause losses of thousands of dollars because the drugs are so expensive.
