Medical Temporaries, Inc. has a position available for a Department Chair in Nursing to work in Norfolk, VA.

Job Title: Department Chair Nursing
Requirements: Must have an earned Doctorate degree and record of scholarly achievement in teaching, research, and service that is equivalent to the academic rank of Associate or full Professor in Nursing or Allied Health. Must possess a minimum of three years of higher education leadership experience and demonstrated success working with faculty and staff, and managing financial and non-financial resources.
Location: Norfolk, VA
Hours: 8am to 5pm (must be flexible)
Type: Direct Hire
Start Date: 02/03/2020
Annual Salary: $125,000 - $135,000 depending on experience and educational background
Specialty: Faculty - Teaching / Research

Summary: This position will provide leadership in managing and growing nursing programs, supervise the nursing program director, allied health program director, and faculty and staff of both units. Will be responsible for providing curriculum oversight, program review and program assessment, including but not limited to development, implementation, and evaluation of philosophy and objectives of the nursing and allied health educational programs. Direct and maintain oversight of faculty and staff workload assignments, including academic advising, teaching schedules, and committee assignments. Maintain oversight of course management, including editing and preparing the course schedules. Develop and manage budgets within the department guidelines. Maintain all personnel files of staff and faculty for the department. Oversight of departmental committees; report preparation and submission. Compliance with accreditation standards and state and federal guidelines. Identification of program outcomes in conjunction with departmental faculty, and providing evidence that graduates have attained those outcomes. Collaborate with area health agencies to ensure clinical experiences for students. Consultation with health care agencies and community organizations. Participate in professional development activities. Develop and evaluate student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies within the framework of the controlling institution. Infusion of technology and other instructional strategies into curriculum.

Other Requirements
Education: Doctorate degree and a record of scholarly achievement in teaching, research, and service that merits appointment to the academic rank of Associate or full Professor in Nursing or Allied Health. Must possess a minimum of three years of higher education leadership experience and demonstrated success working with faculty and staff and managing financial and non-financial resources.

Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of educational methods and theories, administration accreditation, and certification standards/procedures. Knowledgeable in technology, software, and resources to assist and aid in the delivery of course content. Communication skills both verbally and in writing. The ability to convey matters to large diverse audiences. Ability to supervise the work and performance of others. Track record of working collaborating with internship partners. Experience with distance education program development desired. Researching and spearheading grants and memorandums of agreements and contracts experience.
