Job Description

Great Southwestern Construction, Inc. provides a full range of electrical construction services to utilities, municipalities, government entities and private developers throughout the nation for transmission lines, distribution systems, communication systems, substations and renewable energy facilities.

Great Southwestern Construction is looking for two Trainers to teach classes in our Department of Labor-approved lineman apprenticeship program. The classes are taught two weekends a month on Friday and Saturday (8 hours each day) for a total of 32 hours per month. Apprenticeships include transmission, distribution, and substation disciplines.


  • Teach approved curriculum to apprentices in both classroom and field settings
  • Demonstrate proper technique in performing each maneuver being taught
  • Respond to questions and comments from the class in a thoughtful and enlightening manner
  • Provide real-life context to the theories and situations being taught

Job Requirements


  • Must be a Journeyman Lineman
  • Ability to occasionally climb poles to demonstrate proper technique
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of groups and teaching classes in a professional manner
  • Experience on transmission, distribution, and substation construction projects
  • Regular and predictable schedule/attendance is required


Salary will be $45/hr with no benefits.
