Operations Manager- Chattanooga Tennessee:

Operations Manager Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing direction and support to three Construction Mangers and one General Foreman engaged in substation, transmission, distribution, and foundation construction and maintenance activities.

Primary areas of focus will include Safety, Production, Financial Job-Performance, Staffing, Equipment, and Contract Compliance. The selected candidate will interface with their direct reports and Utility Clients (primarily the Tennessee Valley Authority- TVA) to plan and execute a myriad of projects throughout Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky and Georgia.

In addition, the selected candidate will interface with a staff of estimators, project managers, safety support and administrative personnel to manage both the projects and personnel associated with these projects.

Clearance to nuclear generation facilities is required and the candidate must pass the required background checks for badge clearance.

Additional duties not limited to:
• Ensure organizational safety expectations are met by all subordinates
• Supervise district personnel, including Project Managers and Estimators
• Recruit and develop competent transmission, and distribution construction crews
• Manage and level the estimating work load to include estimating projects
• Monitor the financial performance of projects
• Monitor the production of projects
• Ensure contractual compliance for current and future projects
• Strengthen and maintain client relationships
• Pursue business growth opportunities and develop client base
• Facilitate and enforce company policies and procedures
• Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will be an upwardly mobile professional capable of advancement within 2-4 years. They will have 10+ years’ experience in electric utility construction and/or operations with either a utility contractor, electric utility, or ideally both; engaged in transmission, substation, distribution, foundation, etc. Experience would include a working knowledge of field construction practices, job estimating, project management, and supervision of people involved in these tasks. A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or similar is highly desirable.

Future Advancement:

The selection process will include both the ability to execute the above duties as well as the desire and ability to learn to manage the entire district within 2-4 years. The selected individual will be expected to reside in Chattanooga Tennessee and ultimately manage a diverse staff and field workforce of approximately 200 personnel.
