Bio-Medical Equipment Technician III

Job Summary:

The Bio-Medical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) inspects, tests, maintains, calibrates, installs and removes patient care medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems used in the delivery of healthcare.  Other clinical support activities include compliance monitoring and reporting, evaluations, recommendations, quality and performance improvement activities, and assisting medical and nursing staff in the safe and effective use of patient care medical equipment.  The BMET III must have substantial OEM training and experience to be able to provide comprehensive technical support for a wide variety of advanced Diagnostic Imaging equipment modalities, including Rad/Flouro, CT and Ultrasound technologies.  The BMET III must have training and experience in the support of Ventilator and Anesthesia equipment technology. The BMET III provides technical guidance to other members of the department and hospital staff.  Excellent interpersonal and customer skills required. The BMET III is responsible for ensuring compliance with the organization’s medical equipment management program, safety, all applicable policies, procedures and requirements of Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s), including OSHA, FDA, CMS, TJC, CDPH, NFPA 99, Title 22, regulations and requirements will be met or exceeded.


                            

1. Education:  Associate in Science Degree or higher in Electronics/Healthcare Equipment Technology field or equivalent military training required.
 2. Licensure:  Certified Biomedical Electronics Technician (CBET) or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) preferred.
 3. Experience:  5 or more years in the medical equipment maintenance field required.  OEM training and 3 or more years providing advanced technical support for a variety of Diagnostic Imaging equipment is required.  Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
 4. Skills:  Strong electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, computer skills.

 6. Physical Effort:  Able to lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment; to push/pull equipment carts; and to kneel, stand, bend, and reach to service equipment as necessary.
 7. Hours of Work:  40 hours per week, times vary according to assigned shift.  Must be flexible to work as needed for special projects or maintenance needs.
