Certified Phlebotomy Tech
Works under the supervision of the Clinical Assistant Manager, Primary Care Services.  Technical components of the job functions will include consulting with Director, Laboratory Services.  In addition to phlebotomy, the Certified Phlebotomy Technician also facilitates the flow of information into and out of the lab by interacting with the public, using computer systems, delivering reports and answering phones and the mail.

Medical Records Clerk
The Medical Records Clerk performs general front office duties including faxing, filing, and scanning medical records.  The Medical Records Clerk functions as part of a clerical, clinical, and customer service team in support of primary care practices.

Certified Phlebotomy Tech

1. Education:  High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Licensure:  A phlebotomy certificate issued prior to April 9, 2003  from an approved phlebotomy training program or a phlebotomy credential signed by a California licensed physician or after April 9, 2003 a certificate or interim credential issued by California Laboratory Field Services for phlebotomy.

3. Experience:  One year’s acute care hospital experience or ambulatory care setting preferred.

4. Skills:  Phlebotomy.  Basic medical terminology, typing, math and computer skills.  Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups:  Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.

6. Physical Effort:  Moderate.  Requires periods of standing, bending over, lifting supplies and the use of repetitive motions.

Medical Records Clerk

1. Education:  High School Graduate or equivalent required.  Some college business or computer course work essential.  Medical Assistant certification highly preferred.  Current AHA certification or equivalent in basic CPR.  Course work in medical terminology preferred.

2. Skills:  Strong organizational and written and spoken communication skills essential.  Experience with medical record processes preferred.  Demonstrated ability to work independently on a variety of complex tasks, managing competing deadlines.  Bilingual capability preferred.

4. Hours: 40 hours per week, pre-scheduled between Monday – Friday during established office hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) based on business need.

5. Physical Effort: Walking, some bending, stooping, and lifting.  Position requires extensive use of computer keyboarding throughout the day.
