Clinical Nurse II Cardiac Rehab

On Call, FTE: 0; Shift hours determined by department needs

Job Summary:

  1. The Clinical Nurse has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing.
  2. The RN, utilizing the Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, the Relationship Based Care, and the NorthBay’s professional nursing practice model assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all patients assigned to his/her care.
  3. The RN makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient/family and inter-disciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
  4. Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psycho-social needs of the patient.
  5. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization. 


  1. Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing,  BSN preferred. 
  2.  BSN is required by January 1, 2020 (excludes those employees grandfathered as
    outlined in March 2014 letter).

Licensure and Certifications:

  1. Valid, current and RN license by the State of California. 
  2. Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS. Current ACLS.
  3. Telemetry certification within 6 months of employment.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  1. Five years of acute care RN experience with a minimum of 2 years in a step-down, progressive, telemetry or cardiac unit.
  2. One year of critical care experience preferred.
  3. One year of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation experience preferred.
  4. Experience in use of exercise equipment helpful. 
  5. Excellent teaching skills with individuals, groups and complex populations both adult and geriatric
  6. Competent in cardiac and pulmonary assessment skills, oxygenation management, exercise prescription, life style coaching, risk factor modification and psycho-social management of chronic disease
  7. Ability to work effectively in a busy, dynamic environment
  8. Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills in the English language.
  9. Performs all physical duties of the job.  Requires lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
