Clinical Nurse II Labor & Delivery
On Call, (0 FTE); Shift Hours: 12 hour shifts scheduled to meet the needs of the Department. Could be days or nights. Weekend and Holiday rotation required

Job Summary:

  1. The Clinical Nurse has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing.
  2. Utilizes Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, Relationship Based Care, and  NorthBay’s professional nursing practice model assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all patients assigned to his/her care.
  3. Makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
  4. Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psycho-social needs of the patient.
  5. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization. 

Education:

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing, BSN highly preferred. 
  2. BSN required by January 1, 2020, unless grandfathered as outlined in March 2014 letter to employees.

Licensure and Certifications:

  1. Valid, current and unencumbered RN license by the State of California. 
  2. Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS.
  3. Neonatal Resuscitation Certification required within 4 months of hire.
  4. Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate required within 6 months of hire.
  5. OB ACLS within 1 year of hire.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  1. One year OB experience as an RN preferred. 
  2. Six months to one year acute care experience required.
  3. Demonstrates skills in the following areas including but not limited to: advanced patient assessment specifically labor assessments, vaginal examinations, safe utilization of medications, electronic fetal monitoring interpretation, care of the antepartum patient, newborn assessment during the transition period and surgical skills such as circulating and OB surgical recovery. 
  4. Must be competent to circulate and perform OB surgical recovery within 6 months of hire. 
  5. Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills in the English language.
    Required  training: 20 hours of Breastfeeding education that meets the Baby Friendly/WHO/Unicef curriculum requirements within 3 months of hire (original certificates of completion no further than 2 years of date of hire).
