Job Summary:

  1. The Infection Prevention Program Manager (IPPM) is a nursing professional who has responsibility and accountability for the operational management and implementation of the infection prevention program.
  2. Ensures that the activities of the hospital are in accordance with the Infection Prevention l Plan, all regulations from regulatory bodies that include TJC, CDPH, CMS, and hospital policy. 
  3. Participates in and coordinates all aspects of the Infection Prevention Program including surveillance, monitoring, prevention, and education on infection prevention activities within the NorthBay Health System.
  4. Serves as the “point person” for all infection prevention activities and program implementation and supported by the Infection Prevention staff.
  5. Helps to ensure that the facility’s patients, personnel and visitors will be protected from transmission of disease and infection within the facility’s environment as identified in the core competency model by the association for professional in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
  6. Works independently and collaboratively with the Medical Director of Infectious Disease Medicine. The Medical Director of Infectious Disease is responsible for oversight of the IPPM’s technical competencies. 
  7. This position reports to the Director, Quality Division. 


  1. Bachelors degree in Nursing required
  2. Master’s degree preferred
  3. Must provide evidence of APIC EPI 101 course completion


  1. Current unencumbered RN license in the State of California
  2. Infection Control Certification (CIC) required  
  3. Current AHA or equivalent certification in basic CPR


  1. Minimum of 3 years acute care experience with 5+ years acute care infection prevention or healthcare epidemiology.
  2. Working knowledge of health care practices, data management, patient care equipment and products. 
  3. Administration and optimization of Vigilanz or similar infection prevention surveillance software


  1. Working knowledge of infection prevention/ epidemiology/JC, Cal-OSHA 
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 
  3. Must possess high professional standards. 
  4. Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently and be an effective team member. 
  5. Proficient with word, PowerPoint, excel, and outlook.  
  6. Ability to interact in a professional manner with administration, medical staff, and hospital personnel as well as external customers.
  7. Actively engages in and supports a culture based on The NorthBay Way  principles. Utilizes Relationship Based Care principals as the foundation of care delivery and places an emphasis on excellence.
