Nurse Practitioner Specialty-Pre-Anesthesia Clinic
Full Time, FTE: 1; Monday – Friday, 0800-1700 with flexibility for meetings, or department needs.

Job Summary:

  1. This will be a highly independent practice, managing the day to day operation of the pre-anesthesia clinic.
  2. You will be responsible for the workup and optimization of preoperative patients, who are referred to the clinic by their surgeons.
  3. Role will include daily coordination with specialist consultants, especially cardiology and pulmonology. 
  4. the evaluation and optimization of patient care will be consistent with published guidelines for perioperative management from the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
  5. Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psycho-social needs of the patient. 
  6. you will work under the supervision of the Medical Director, who is an anesthesiologist.

Education: 

  1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program including a Nurse Practitioner Program
  2. Evidence of training related to Cardiology is required.

Licensure/Credentials: 

  1. Current and unrestricted California license as a Nurse Practitioner required. 
  2. Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner preferred. 
  3. American Heart Association or organizational approved instruction for Basic Life Support and ACLS required.
  4. Demonstrates clear credentials check through the AHP process.
  5. Maintains a current Furnishing Number for medications. Maintains a current DEA license for schedule 2 drugs and above or can achieve within 60 days of hire.  

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  1. New Graduate Nurse Practitioners welcome to apply.
  2. Demonstrates ability to evaluate patient’s physical and emotional status. 
  3. Demonstrates ability to provide patient care based on age-related needs.
  4. Demonstrates current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Adult, Young Adult, and Geriatric.  
  5. Demonstrates ability to clearly set behavioral limits.  Ability to use computer, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, and Word), multi-line phone, and Cerner experience preferred.
  6. Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  7. Moderate physical activity. Walking, standing, periods of sitting, bending, computer keyboarding, and lifting not greater than 50 lbs.
