The Surgical Technologist is responsible for the delivery of patient care to assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed professional nurse. The Surgical Technologist works as a team member with the primary function as the "scrub person" in the surgical suite and other clinical areas.  The technologist may be assigned other functions as permitted by the hospital policy.

  1. High School Graduate.
  2. Graduate of Approved Surgical Technologist program required.   
  3. National certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred.   
  4. Minimum two years acute care operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist required, five years preferred. Trauma II experience preferred.  Must demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique, safe use and care of surgical instruments and equipment, knowledge of various in-patient surgical    procedures.  Basic windows computer skills required.  Good communication skills; works as a team member. 
  5. Actively engages in and supports a culture based on EXCEED principles.  Performs all physical duties of the job as stated in the job task analysis.
  6. Requires lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.  
  7. Current certification in basic CPR through American Heart Association. Completion of annual organizational conditions of employment . required.  Flexibility in staffing required. Standby availability required. Transportation available to meet call back time requirements required.
  8. Must have current valid driver's license and provide proof of insurance to meet current Risk Management guidelines.  Must be available to perform job duties at both the NorthBay and VacaValley campus.
  9. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
