Job Description

Bake Rite Rolls seeks a seasonal Production/General Help (Packer/Stacker/Feeder) for the Production and Wrapping Departments. This is an exciting opportunity and hands-on position involving working with the production of the product as well as placing the correct number of product from the assembly line on the tray or in a case. Responsibilities:

As a Packer/Stacker:

  • Verifies the proper codes are correctly placed and legible on bags and/or cases.
  • Verifies proper packaging is being used.
  • Checks the package seal consistently. 
  • Ensures correct number of products is placed on trays or in cases.
  • Make sure trays are clean and not broken prior to using.
  • Assist and follows changeover procedures when needed.
  • Assists Machine Operators in setting up machines for all varieties of products.
  • Communicates any issues to the Machine Operator or Lead Person or Packaging Supervisor.

As a Table Person:

  • Ensures in feed to the machines is properly adjusted to accommodate the product without causing damage.
  • Removes any product out of spec and regrinds.
  • Goes to slicer and corrects jam-ups when needed.
  • Removes product from line and places it on the appropriate rack/tray when machine is stopped.
  • Sets up lanes for bagging properly.
  • Assists and follows changeover procedures when needed.
  • Communicates any issues to the Machine Operator or Lead Person or Supervisor

As a Chute Person:

  • Makes sure product is turned proper way (tops out).
  • Make sure proper # of product in chutes.
  • Assists operator in putting proper bags in machine.
  • Assists in cleaning up and following proper changeover procedures.
  • Assists and follows changeover procedures when needed.
  • Communicates any issues to the Machine Operator or Lead Person or Supervisor

Other related duties as assigned by Packaging Supervisor or Lead Person.

Safety:

  • Maintains safe working environment for all employees/contractors.
  • Promotes safety in all areas of operations.

Sanitation:

  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
  • Follows proper G. M. P.’s at all times.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in manufacturing industry preferred
  • Must be available for all three shifts
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to count and perform basic math
  • Must be able to read and comprehend production schedule
  • Must be capable of lifting or maneuvering up to 50 pounds and consistently lifting approximately 20 pounds throughout a workday
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to reach approximately 7 feet high to move product
  • Must be physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant
  • Must be able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
  • Must be able to perform all duties so as not to produce damage
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc.
  • Must be able to keep up with machine speed through repetitive motion 

Physical Demands:

Standing for approximately 90% of scheduled shift, lifting, bending and twisting on a regular basis; lifting up to 55 lbs. and 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance; negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, etc.  

Work Environment:

In performing the duties of this job, the individual is exposed to wet or humid conditions, hot or cold climate, work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level of the work environment is considered moderate to loud.

Vision Requirements:

Near vision needed to read and prepare paper and computerized data and reports, and to examine and compile records.

Training Required:

The individual must complete all annual safety training, ergonomics, and any specialized and/or skill ware training this is required to perform his/her job.
