Job Description

H&S Bakery, Inc. seeks a Shipping Supervisor to run the day to day operation of our Shipping Department. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that only predictable, consistent, high quality products are distributed to our customer. This individual will direct the activities of the Department and Shipping personnel on assigned shifts. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for delivering 100% Customer Satisfaction through consistent, predictable, high quality products.

Responsibilities Include:

• Directs the activities of the department on assigned shift in order to accurately separate and ship product to appropriate destination.
• Ensures that production orders are filled correctly and distribution of product is completed according to schedule.
• Supervises, trains and directs shipping personnel.
• Addresses any employee issues and reports complaints/concerns to the proper manager (i.e. Department Manager, Plant Manager, HR Manager)
• Monitors employee performance on a daily basis by doing frequent walk- through of the work area and reviewing related work.
• Participates in the disciplinary process by issuing corrective actions in accordance with the union contract and other related company policies & procedures and communicating with the appropriate contacts (i.e. Department Head, Superintendent, HR Manager).
• Makes adjustments in personnel assignments to cover absenteeism and emergencies. Notes employee absences & lateness in the computer.
• Meets with previous supervisors to communicate any issues from the prior shift.
• Contacts customers immediately upon knowing product will be late or orders cut.
• Maintains Supervisor’s log to account for all activities on the shift.
• Keeps product staging areas and lanes organized.
• Removes out-of-code product from the floor (requires constant checking of date and price codes).
• Keeps the floor areas clean and organized (includes Platform, private label dock, D-Center loading area, empty tray area).
• Completes paperwork (load sheets, block sheets) with accuracy and neatness.
• Performs trailer checks, includes sweeping and checking for damage. Documents information and submits to transportation department.
• Monitors the floor inventory of empty trays and other equipment to ensure ample supply.
• Communicates with packaging supervisors to make sure product counts are correct on each truck (i.e. reconciling trailer paperwork to packaging wrap-sheets).

Safety:

• Maintains safe working environment for all employees/contractors/visitors by following safety guidelines and reporting all incidents to management.
• Participates in incident/accident investigations and completes required paperwork.
• Promotes employee safety in all areas of operations.

Sanitation:

• Ensures department personnel maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Ensures proper G. M. P.’s are followed at all times and takes necessary corrective action for violations.
• Other related duties as assigned by Manager or Superintendent.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum years of experience:
• Two Years or more of experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
• Must be able to count and perform basic math.
• Must be able to read and comprehend department materials and specifically load sheets.
• Must be capable of lifting or maneuvering up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to reach approximately 7 feet high to move product.
• Must be physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant.
• Must be able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
• Must be able to perform all duties so as not to produce damage.
• Must be able to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc
