Basic Job Functions:

This role is in support of the coordination and execution of the Nucor Memphis Maintenance strategy which includes but is not limited to safety, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading mechanical equipment. This position will be responsible for repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments: Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2-years experience in working in maintenance with mechanical troubleshooting; or technical schools training and internship.


• Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.


• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Four-year technical degree or equivalent experience


• Three to five years industrial maintenance experience


• Steel Mill experience


• Experience with EBS or similar CMMS.


• Industrial hydraulic systems


• Air compressor maintenance and operation


• Welding/fabrication experience


• Understanding of basic electrical theory


• Gearbox setup and alignment experience
