Base Hourly Rate Range: $23.85 – $29.00

Bonus Type: This position is eligible for annual bonuses.

Annual Return On Assets Bonus Percentage (5 year average) = 20.7% of eligible earnings

Annual Profit Sharing Bonus Percentage (5 year average) = 20% of eligible earnings

Basic Job Functions:

American Buildings Company, A Nucor Company, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Steel

Detailed/BIM Modeler at our facility in El Paso, IL. This is an entry level position.

As a Steel Detailer/ BIM Modeler, you will be responsible for detailing all components of a custom metal building system including the primary steel framing, secondary steel framing, wall panel systems, roof panel systems, and all associated flashings and trims to ensure all components fit together correctly as part of a complete design solution. This will include:

• Creating construction anchor bolt drawings


• Creating permit/approval drawings


• Creating electronic 3D models of custom-building systems using 3D drafting software 


• Creating shop drawings and reports for in-house fabrication and production teams


• Creating erection drawings and bill of materials for field construction use

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school degree (or equivalent)


• Associates Degree or two-year vocational school certification with a focus in architecture, drafting, construction management or engineering technology, or a minimum of 3 years of of Computer Aided Drafting experience


• Basic math, geometry and trigonometry skills.  


• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating CAD software 


• Experience with Tekla Structures or similar 3D modeling software


• Prior metal building detailing experience 


• Leadership experience
