Basic Job Functions:

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer’s role is to support the Mill maintenance process with a focus on safety, reliability, quality, costs, and project management to ensure a reliable operation in the Galvanizing Line.

This ideal teammate will assist with root cause analysis, determining/implementing corrective actions, developing specifications for equipment and projects, and training of plant personnel on all systems within Galvanizing Line. It will also assist in maintenance (preventive, predictive, and corrective), problem-solving, and improvements, for that reason this work request the ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or related fields).


• 4 years prior Steel Mill experience in Electrical Maintenance, Automation or job related.


• Knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems including Fundamental Electrical Theory.


• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, Variable Frequency Drives, motors, control systems and instrumentation.

• Knowledge of Troubleshooting 480V Motors and Controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in programing and maintenance of Siemens PLC (Tia Portal).


• Experience in programing and maintenance of Siemens Drives S120.


• Experience in programing and maintenance of Safety PLC.


• Experience in maintenance of Process Measurement Instruments.
