Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The Ladle Operator is responsible for inspecting refractory material in the ladles, preparing slide gate refractories for operation, and cleaning and maintaining slide gates and other ladle components. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to sanding ladles, managing ladle and tundish preheaters, managing proper ladle rotation, and assisting Casting Operations, the Ladle Furnace Operator, and Maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled.


• Willing/able to withstand high temperature working conditions.


• Willing/able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current or previous experience working in Melt Shop
