Nucor Steel-Auburn (NSAU) is seeking applicants for the position of Melt Shop Manager 

The Melt Shop Manager is responsible for the growth and development of the  team in achieving our mission. This position will support our goal to take care of our customers by continually improving safety, environmental efforts, quality, costs, productivity and profitability. Job duties include, but not limited to:  

• Leadership role in promoting Nucor’s mission ensuring that Safety is instilled as a value with a strong focus on Quality and Environmental Stewardship. 

• Leadership role in maximizing divisions’ assets, minimizing downtime, and developing a culture of ownership. Provide experience and leadership to critically analyze business needs and help formulate a clear vision and strategy. 

• Leadership role in continual improvement in plant operations and key performance metrics 


• Proven ability to develop team members through training, individual reviews and coaching sessions 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED  

  
  

• Five Years of supervisory, management or leadership experience 

  
  

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor Steel-Auburn will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

• Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making: Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.  

• Coaching and Developing Others - Identifying the strengths and developmental needs of others to include coaching, mentoring, teaching, training, or otherwise helping others to improve their skills to work effectively.  

• Business Acumen - General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money.  

Preferences:

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience in a related field  

  
  

• 2 plus years of Melt Shop Experience
