Position Overview

The Direct Support Professional I (Residential Setting) (“DSP I R”) is a non-exempt employee working at one of PDI’s small residential homes in Pueblo West, Colorado.  You’ll perform diverse work with primary responsibility to provide person-centered service to individuals with disabilities.  You will help support and assist with all activities of daily living (may include bathing, dressing, self-feeding, functional mobility, personal hygiene and toilet hygiene.  You will help support and assist with instrumental activities of daily living (may include housework, meal preparation, medication administration, shopping for groceries and clothing, and transportation.  You will schedule medical appointments as needed and provide transportation in a PDI vehicle to each individual’s day program, medical appointments, daily activities and community events.  You will maintain a clean and safe home environment (including cleaning house, emptying trash and keeping sidewalks and driveways clear of snow, ice and debris).  You will participate in staff meetings, training sessions and individual plan sessions.

This position is ideal for you if you are a patient and caring person with enthusiasm and compassion to share with individuals with disabilities.  The right candidate is well organized and able to follow systematic methods to complete tasks and is willing to be a productive and hard-working member of a team of co-workers.

Various shifts are available, including overnight shifts.

Work Location

PDI’s main campus is located at 2828 Granada Blvd., Pueblo, Colorado  81005.  The DSP I R will work at one of PDI’s small residential facilities located in Pueblo West, Colorado.  Limited local travel may be required.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements for All PDI Positions

You must be age 21 or over to work at PDI.  You must also pass a pre-hire drug and background screen as well as random drug screens that may occur at any time and without notice while employed by PDI.  You must be computer-literate, comfortable with technology with well-developed oral and written communication skills.  You must be able to complete and pass First Aid, CPR, QMAP and other required training.

Additional Requirements

You must possess a high-school diploma or general education degree (“GED”).

You must possess a valid driver’s license and agree to a review of your motor vehicle record for addition to PDI’s authorized drivers list.
