The Opportunity
PCG’s Education Consulting service line seeks Curriculum Writers with expertise in designing curriculum for English Learners. EL curriculum writers will develop integrated supports and additional lessons for a highly complex and exciting English Language Arts (ELA) digital curriculum development project. The project provides motivated individuals a unique opportunity to support educators and students in actualizing college and career ready standards for literacy, through the delivery of high-quality curricular resources in a digital environment. EL Curriculum Writers will collaborate with grade level curriculum writers to engage in a highly creative, iterative, and collaborative development process and produce lessons that are rigorous, engaging, and meaningful to students. These are 2 year contract roles with potential for future work past that timeframe. Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below.

PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews.
Recent project engagements have included the development of the EngageNY grades 6–12 English Language Arts Common-Core aligned curriculum for the New York State Education Department, design and delivery of a system of professional learning for the Connecticut State Department of Education, and the creation of training and resources to support transition to the new standards for the Florida Department of Education.
Responsibilities
The Role
Responsibilities and expectations of Curriculum Writers include the following.
- Participate in the development of grades 6–12 English Language Arts curriculum units, with specific responsibilities for integrating instructional strategies and supports for English Learners
- Participate in the development of additional resources to accelerate literacy growth for English Learners.
- Write lessons and supporting material to specific design criteria and for implementation in a digital environment.
- Participate in a highly-collaborative and rapid development process, in which curriculum writing occurs in a team environment that includes regular engagement with team members, peer review, and other formative feedback.
- Availability during regular work week, with some night or weekend work as needed.
- Must be available to attend client meetings in Chicago as needed.
- Two-year project commitment with opportunity for future work.

Required/Desired Experience
- Bachelors degree or higher
- Classroom experience teaching English Learners at the secondary level
- Experience developing curricular resources for English Learners
- Experience with digital learning instructional design
- Experience with Illinois Englsh Language Development Standards (WIDA), English Language Arts Standards (ELA CCSS) and/or EngageNY curriculum (preferred)
- Experience with Safari Montage and/or Google Classroom (preferred)
